The Tea House

116 West Xinglong Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing — a short walk from Qianmen, beside the Mandarin Oriental.

The space holds a few tea trays, jade and brush props collected over years, and whatever light comes through the window that afternoon. Tea is served by request, not by menu order — raw and ripe puerh, jasmine, green and black teas, chosen for the season and the conversation.
